75-year-old commits suicide over seizure of his buses by VIO

Tragedy struck in Osogbo, Osun State capital, in the early hours of Wednesday when a 75-year old grandfather, Pa Adisa Hassan, a resident of Oke-Ayepe, Onward Estate in Osogbo Local Government Area of the state committed suicide inside his house.

His neighbours and other residents in the area, where the incident occurred, wore a mournful look, while others who could not control their emotions wailed uncontrollably over the death of the old man.

Nigerian Tribune reliably gathered that Pa Hassan, popularly known as “Baba Tawa” decided to take his life following the seizure of two out of his three commercial buses some days before the incident by Vehicles Inspection Officials (VIO).

Credible sources informed the Nigerian Tribune that Pa  Hassan, who operated three buses for his inter-city transport business, was devastated and psychologically disturbed, hence he decided to hang himself in a store room around 5.00am on Wednesday.

According to some witnesses’ account, “Pa Hassan had woken up alongside his family members around 5.00am in order to observe their usual morning prayer (Subri) but changed his mind on his way to the mosque situated directly opposite his house and went into his store room and took his life.”
